What's Ganoderma?

Ganoderma Lucidum is the scientific name of the herb that is extracted from the mysterious Red Reishi Mushroom, that grows on only 2 out of 10,000 aged wild plum trees found in the dense and humid high mountain forests of Asia, and dates back as far as 5,000 years. Records show, that the herb, regarded by the Chinese as the "Medicine of Kings," the "Herb of Spiritualism," and the "Herb of Immortality," was prized by emperors for its miraculous benefits.

What is Ganoderma?

A rare herb, grown high in the mountains, and deep in the humid forests of Asia, recognized by Chinese medical professionals as the highest ranked of all herbs found in Chinese Pharmacopoeia. Ganoderma is known in Chinese as Lingzhi, in Japanese as Reishi, and in Korean as Youngzhi.

According to Dr. Shi-Jean Lee, the most famous Chinese medical professional of the Ming Dynasty, in his famous book Ban Chao Gang Moo (Great Pharmacopoeia), "the long-term consumption of Ganoderma (Lingzhi) (Reishi) (Youngzhi), will build a strong, healthy body and assure long life."

Health Benefits

Ganoderma Lucidum

Ganoderma has a long history as one of the safest herbs for consumption, because it generally exhibits no side-effects. It should be noted that persons with serious chronic health issues or conditions, or persons with known allergies to mushrooms, should consult their personal physician or health care professional, before beginning a regimen of ganoderma, due to the remote possibility of allergic side-effects.

Consumption of Ganoderma Lucidum is believed to provide the following health benefits:

  • Oxygenate the body
  • Strengthen & support the immune system
  • Improve the body's healing ability & promote rejuvenation
  • Naturally detoxify the body

What is Ganoderma?

Believing that "long-term use of Reishi would help build a strong, healthy body and promote long life," people traveled high into the mountains, and deep into the humid forests, just to harvest this rare herb.

Not unlike other herbs and/or medicinal supplements, used to treat a myriad of common, and not so common, ailments and conditions, Ganoderma has fairly well escaped the global health benefit spotlight for centuries, excepting in traditional Asian and Oriental medicine circles. This may, in part, be due to the rarity of the Red Reishi mushroom, and/or the long, and often, difficult process of extraction.

Originally, extraction of Ganoderma was a time-consuming process of either boiling the mushrooms for many hours, or of soaking them in alcohol for many weeks. Today, through controlled, organic cultivation, Ganoderma can be more easily extracted and obtained in powder form.

While we are not alternative medicine or health food "junkies," we do recognize the natural, self-healing abilities of the human body, when maintained in its normal state of homeostasis, even against external and environmental factors.

Since the introduction to North America, in 2008, of Ganoderma-infused beverages, personal care products, wherein the ganoderma is absorbed transdermally (through the skin), and a line of nutraceutical products, ganoderma has been attracting attention, both by health professionals and consumers, because of the health benefits, like longevity, youthfulness, vitality and virility, believed to be associated with its use and consumption.

Ganoderma is odorless, colorless and tasteless.

The Science

About Ganoderma Lucidum

In 1983, Malaysian scientist Leow Soon Seng identified six varieties of Red Ganoderma Lucidum demonstrating a high value. He further determined that the Malaysian climate, with its saturated humidity and constant temperature (averaging 85° F or 30° C), was highly conducive to ganoderma cultivation. Using tissue cultured from the original six superior specimens he isolated, Mr. Leow was able to produce exact replicas with identical properties and potency. Germinated in a rich growth medium (blended from paddy husks, brown rice flour and rubber tree scraps) and cultivated in a highly controlled environment, Mr. Leow was able to consistently produce a nutrient-dense, organic Ganoderma Lucidum extract that would ensure the highest value possible.

Ganoderma takes approximately three months to mature, and the cultivation process must be closely supervised so that the ganoderma is harvested only when the nutrients have reached their apex. Even exposure to the sun is tightly controlled in order to produce the highest quality mushrooms possible, with the greatest value. Ganoderma Lucidum contains over 100 antioxidants and 200 phyto nutrients like triterpenoids, polysaccharides and organic germanium - perhaps the most beneficial compound found in nature.

Natural Log vs. Plastic Bag Ganoderma

Many companies globally, have attempted to harvest ganoderma, but there are some distinctions that need to be understood about the difference between "Natural Log Harvested Ganoderma," and "Plastic Bag Harvested Ganoderma."

Most ganoderma available globally, is of the "Plastic Bag" variety, but "Natural Log Harvested Ganoderma," is much more potent and effective, because it is harvested naturally.

Ganoderma Mycelium

Ganoderma Mycelium is derived from the base of the mushroom, and is a more potent form of the ganoderma herb. It is believed to:

  • Reduce cholesterol
  • Reduce blood lipids
  • Stabilize red blood cell membranes
  • Prevent thrombosis by lowering platelet coagulation
  • Prevent embolism & resulting sudden death
  • Reduce blood glucose (sugars)
  • Restore pancreatic function
  • Inhibit allergies caused by antigens by inhibiting release of histamine
  • Promote the body's natural healing & rejuvenation ability
  • Promote a strong immune system
  • Inhibit senility
  • Reduce anti-hypertensive drug side-effects
  • Inhibit organ & tissue degeneration
  • Promote endocrine balance by improving the function of the cortes of the adrenal glands
  • Inhibit cancer & cancer cell metastasis
  • Relieve cancer pain
  • Increase the effectiveness of cancer fighting drugs

Ganoderma Spore Powder

Ganoderma Spore Powder is a relatively new discovery, and is also derived from the base of the mushroom, and more specifically from the spores (seeds), that are produced & released by the Ganoderma plant or fruit body, once it reaches maturity - generally in about 5 - 7 months. Like the pollen of flowers, it contains all of the essence medicinal and biological properties. The spore powder is 20 times more potent and effective than the mushroom body, with significantly greater nutritional and medicinal value.

Although all species of the Lingzhi plant can produce Spore Powder, the quantity of the spores produced by most, if not all, of common Lingzhi plant is very miniscule. Only those species specially cultured from Ganoderma Lucidum can produce the spores in great volumes.

Additionally, ravaging rain & wind damaged & scattered the spores that were released, thus there was never any mention of "spores" as having been used for healing, in the authoritative ancient Pharmacopoeia "Sheng Nong Pern T'sao Jing." It was only recently, that a new species of "spores" Lingzhi plant, that can produce spores in volume, was successfully cultured and grown, that now made it possible for Spores Powder to be made available on a commercial scale.

The "spore" was found to be more potent than the ganoderma body, and also more costly to extract, because for every 1000 kg of Ganoderma Lucidum, only 1 kg of Spore Powder can be extracted, thus making the medicinal value of the Ganoderma Spore, naturally endowed with an inherent efficacy 20 times higher than that of the Ganoderma Mushroom body.

The most potent part of ganoderma is Ganoderma Spore oil! The incredible curative properties, make the powder invaluable to overall health. It requires no additional processing, apart from breaking open the spores' outer covering, so it remains a natural product, without suffering any loss of its organic medicinal value.

Ganoderma Spore Powder contains:

  • Polysaccharides
  • Germanium
  • Triterpene Compound
  •  Nuchleoside Compound
  • 17 types of amino acids
  • Alkaloids
  • Soya Bean protein
  • Sterols
  • Counmaric essence
  • Glycoside
  • Vitamins
  • Enzymes
  • 13 essential minerals, like
    • Kalium
    • Lithium
    • Zinc
    • Chromium
    • Calcium
    • Molybdenum
    • Magnesium
    • Nickel
    • Manganese
    • Sodium
    • And more

It is truly a "treasure house" of nutrients, and is suitable for all age groups. For the "frail" or "unwell," it acts as a therapeutic tonic. For the "healthy," it becomes a health enhancer. Its curative properties make it the "herb of deathlessness."

Grapeseed Extract & Grapeseed Oil

Grapeseed Extract

Grapeseed Extract is derived from the seed of a specific wine grape (Vitis vinifera). It is rich in Vitamin E, flavonoids, Vitamin C and beta-carotene. Grapeseed is a phytochemical, known as a flavonoid, that has powerful antioxidant capabilities. It is highly water soluble, so the body is able to absorb them rapidly.

Grapeseed is part of a category known as OPCs (Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins), which may be up to 50 times more potent than Vitamin E, and 20 times more potent than Vitamin C, in terms of bioavailable antioxidant activity, or, in other words, the capability with which the body has to absorb the antioxidant.

Additionally, this type of flavonoid works with the antioxidant glutathione to recycle and restore oxidized Vitamin C, which increases its effectiveness.

It can help protect the liver from damage, caused by toxic doses of acetaminophen, a non-prescription pain reliever, and it strengthens & repairs connective tissue, including the cardiovascular system.

Grapeseed Oil

Grapeseed Oil is believed to help control various health issues, like heart diseases, by helping to clear the arteries. It is also believed to aid in fighting cancer. It is believed further, to assist in regulating blood glucose (sugar) levels.

It is also believed, that Grapeseed supports the immune system and retards the aging process, as well as aiding the moderation of allergic and inflammatory reactions, by reducing histamine production. Grapeseed Oil contains linoleic acid, a polyunsaturated fatty acid, which is an essential component of the cell membrane. Grapeseed also has an astringent property, so it is believed to be able to tighten and tone the skin. It is also believed to have positive effects in the treatment of acne and many other skin disorders, providing nourishment and aiding in skin repair.

Grapeseed Oil can also be used in cooking, and many medicinal researchers believe that most health benefits derived from grapes, can be attributed to the seeds.

While no major side-effects of Grapeseed Oil usage have ever been observed or reported, nonetheless, people with allergies to grapes are advised to avoid any Grapeseed Extract.

Healthy Living

No substitutes or short-cuts

It goes without saying, that there is absolutely no substitute for a healthy lifestyle. There are no magic pills or potions that can take the place of a healthy diet, including proper nutrition & proper hydration. Adequate & regular, sustained exercise is also an absolute imperative, to promote extended health & longevity. It is believed that regular use of Ganoderma & Grapeseed, along with other vitamin & mineral supplements, can also be an enhancement, that can promote a long and healthy life.
